Euskadi was granted Autonomic Statute in 1979, and thanks to this, it enjoys the exclusive electoral competence to regulate Elections to the Basque Parliament and, consequently, to elect its seventy five Members of Parliament and the Lehendakari (President), who presides the Basque Government.

In accordance with Basque electoral legislation, the exercise of this competence falls upon the Home Office Department of the Basque Government. To this avail, the Management of Electoral Processes and Documentation has been created, which is responsible for the management of electoral and documentary matters.

As from 1998, the network offers an information service on all matters related to Elections in the Basque Country, seen from a historical and future perspective. Management of Electoral Processes and Documentation has broken down this information into a series of publications which are made available to Internet users.
